Polite Society + Panel

This special screening of the Polite Society is hosted by The New Black Film Collective and University of Brighton’s Donor Research to raise awareness of blood and organ donation eligibility for the South Asian community. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with artists and experts. A merry mash-up of sisterly affection, parental disappointment and bold action, Polite Society follows martial artist-in-training Ria Khan who believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage. After enlisting the help of her friends, Ria attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood. This is the directorial debut of Nida Manzoor, (We are Lady Parts) who also wrote the film.
