Through the Woods (Episodes 1-7)
Through the Woods follows Rider and his dog Wolfie as they explore the kind of "nearby nature" that so many kids can relate to: spider webs, a bunny nest, fireflies and more. In each 3-minute story, the ever-curious Rider wonders about something he has seen or heard in the small woods behind his house, observes an animal or plant to learn more and then shares his discoveries with his Grammie through play. Episode 1: Rider the Spider A discovery in the woods prompts the question: “Why do spiders spin webs?” Episode 2: Rider and the Woodpecker Rider and Wolfie investigate a strange tapping sound in the trees. What could it be? Episode 3: Roly Poly Rider Looking closely at the ground near a rock, Rider and Wolfie find a family of roly poly bugs. Rider tries to roll up just like them! Episode 4: Fairies and Fireflies Rider, Dad, and Wolfie discover glowing "fairies" while walking to Grammie's house on a beautiful summer evening. But there’s no such thing as fairies! Episode 5: A Snowy Morning On their way to Grammie’s, Rider and Wolfie find animal tracks in the snow. Some are bigger than Wolfie’s! What could have made them? Episode 6: Squirrel Treasure Rider and Wolfie discover a squirrel burying acorns all over the forest floor. But why? Episode 7: A Froggy Day A symphony of sounds greets Rider and Wolfie as they walk through the woods on a spring day. It’s an orchestra of little frogs called peepers!
