This Outdoor Cinema screening will take place at: Brighton: Preston Manor, Preston Drove, Brighton BN1 6SD Please note that films will start after sundown (approximately 20.30-21.00) so that you can enjoy outdoor cinema at its best. Doors open at 18.30, so be sure to arrive early to enjoy our drinks and snacks and settle in with your choice of seat. Grab a seat in the pew, because you're invited to Muriel's Wedding: celebrate 30 years of the gloriously kitsch, ABBA-laden Australian comedy classic that gained a loyal queer following and made Toni Collette – and the terrible, terribly wonderful Muriel – a star. It’s as good as ‘Dancing Queen’. All Muriel (Collette) wants is to get married. A twenty-something misfit in the provincial town of Porpoise Spit, surrounded by her unsympathetic family, she longs for an escape – and she finds one. Ready to reinvent herself, she steals a blank cheque and flies herself out to a holiday resort on the quest for love (or at the least, the approval of her mean girl ex-classmates). There she meets fellow outcast Rhonda (Rachel Griffiths), and the two immediately understand each other. They set off to Sydney to live their dreams – until Muriel finds herself with an unexpected proposal.
