CFF: AMR: Dying to Change the World

UK, 2025, 68 mins. DIRECTOR: Alex Tweddle WITH: Brian Cox AMR, or antimicrobial resistance, refers to the emergence and spread of drug-resistant superbugs. According to the WHO, it is one of the greatest threats facing humanity - yet it remains largely unknown to most people. AMR – Dying to Change the World is a feature-length documentary that sheds light on this growing crisis and the dangers it poses to global health, food security, environmental stability, and the economy. Narrated through a first-person voice-over by Brian Cox, who embodies AMR itself, the film highlights the stories of those already affected, explores the root causes of drug-resistant “superbugs”—from antibiotic overuse to systemic failures—and examines their current and potential consequences. The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region, and throughout the UK.
